Shakib Al Hasan signed for Gazi Tank Cricketers on Thursday, the second and final day of the 2014-15 Dhaka Premier League players’ transfer window. After some deliberation within the BCB, he was given the green signal to sign for his club of choice like the rest of the players.The resolution brings to an end the three-day debate over whether Shakib would be considered a national pool player in the transfers. As in previous seasons, the BCB had set aside a group of players who had played international cricket this year. Earlier this month, the Dhaka Premier League clubs chose up to three players each from this “national pool” but Shakib at the time was suspended so could not take part in the transfers.On Wednesday, the opening day of the normal transfer window, the tournament’s organising committee, the CCDM, was unsure whether to add Shakib to the pool and had asked the BCB to take a call on the matter. There was talk of having a special lottery to sell Shakib’s services at a price of Tk 40 lakh among clubs who had not selected a national pool player for the season. But it is understood that when Gazi Tank confirmed to the board their advance payment to Shakib months ago, it smoothened the process overnight.”The CEO [Nizamuddin Chowdhury] called me today to say that I can do my transfer like all the other cricketers,” Shakib later told reporters. “This is completely the board’s decision and they would never want something bad for a player. It was a normal decision. Since I was suspended, I wasn’t in the national pool so it created complications. I think it was resolved through discussions.”Apart from Shakib, 133 other cricketers completed transfers during the two-day window. The 2014-15 Dhaka Premier League is scheduled to begin in October.

Após uma passagem sem brilhos no Atlético-MG, que havia contratado Erik no início de 2018 por empréstimo junto ao Palmeiras, o Botafogo viu a oportunidade de mercado e negociou com o Verdão uma nova cessão do atacante, que chegou ao Alvinegro em agosto.

O primeiro jogo de Erik pelo Botafogo ocorreu no dia 25 de agosto, contra o Sport, no Estádio Nilton Santos, na 21ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro. Foi, logo, titular sob o comando de Zé Ricardo e atuou os 90 minutos, ajudando o Alvinegro a conquistar uma vitória por 2 a 0.

PRIMEIRO GOL

O primeiro gol demorou seis jogos para acontecer. No dia 29 de setembro, Erik balançou as redes e foi fundamental para a virada do Botafogo sobre o Vitória, no triunfo pro 4 a 3 no Barradão. Na ocasião, foi um resultado essencial para a equipe comandada por Zé Ricardo, que fugia da zona de rebaixamento.

Antes disso, Erik já se mostrava importante para o funcionamento do Botafogo. Sempre pelo lado direito do campo, o atacante havia contribuído com o passe que garantiu a vitória do Alvinegro sobre o Cruzeiro e, contra o próprio Vitória, participou de três dos quatro gols marcados pelo Alvinegro. Aos poucos, o jogador mostrava sua importância para o clube de General Severiano.

DECISIVO CONTRA O FLAMENGO

A importância de Erik talvez tenha sido confirmada no clássico contra o Flamengo, no dia 10 de novembro. O clássico realizado no Estádio Nilton Santos teve participação essencial do camisa 11, que abriu o placar para o Botafogo, que saiu de campo vitorioso, por 2 a 0.

O duelo evidenciou a principal qualidade de Erik: a velocidade. O primeiro gol do Glorioso nasceu de uma arrancada do atacante, que deixou Réver para trás antes de finalizar para o fundo das redes.

FUNDAMENTAL NO SEGUNDO SEMESTRE

Entre assistências, gols e arrancadas, Erik terminou a última temporada em alta. A contratação do atacante foi essencial para o Botafogo se livrar do risco de rebaixamento e ainda chegar a sonhar com uma vaga na Taça Libertadores, por conta da sequência de resultados positivos no segundo semestre do Campeonato Brasileiro.

Com Erik, o Botafogo ganhou uma opção ofensiva de perigo. A torcida, por sua vez, se ‘apaixonou’ pelo atacante, que se tornou imprescindível na equipe. O camisa 11 havia recuperado o futebol que o consagrara no Goiás, em 2014.

SAÍDA? DESEJO FALOU MAIS ALTO

O tamanho sucesso de Erik no fim de 2018 fez o Palmeiras desejar o retorno do jogador para o elenco principal na atual temporada. O atacante, inclusive, iniciou a pré-temporada com o Verdão, dono dos direitos federativos do atleta.

A vontade de Erik, porém, era retornar ao Rio de Janeiro. E o desejo do atacante foi fundamental para um novo empréstimo envolvendo Botafogo e Palmeiras. Sem envolver nenhum tipo de custo, o atacante, apesar de conversas com Luiz Felipe Scolari e Alexandre Mattos, retornou ao Alvinegro no início de 2019.

BRILHO INTERNACIONAL

Erik conseguiu manter a boa fase de 2018 no início da atual temporada. Tal desempenho, inclusive, foi destacado ainda mais na Copa Sul-Americana. Erik foi fundamental nos confrontos diante do Defensa y Justicia – à época, o vice-líder do Campeonato Argentino.

Na partida realizada no Estádio Nilton Santos, primeiro jogo do duelo, Erik fez, nos minutos finais, o gol da vitória com uma finalização de longa distância. Na Argentina, repetiu a dose para garantir a classificação do Alvinegro. Contra o Sol de América, do Paraguai, na fase seguinte, foram mais dois gols – somados os duelos -, que colocaram o camisa 11 como artilheiro da competição internacional, com quatro tentos.

DESPEDIDA EMOCIONANTE

Apesar de amargar atuações irregulares nas últimas partidas pelo Botafogo, a passagem de Erik pelo Alvinegro é, em termos gerais, muito positiva. Não à toa, a notícia de sua venda surpreendeu a todos dentro do clube, mas o jogador recebeu uma proposta, em termos financeiros, irrecusável. A emoção do camisa 11 em sua despedida explica com precisão como foi esta relação.

– De todos os clubes que eu já passei, esse foi o que eu fui mais feliz até hoje. Queria muito poder retribuir de uma forma melhor ainda, mas sei que Deus tem sempre o melhor para a gente. Eu vou estar torcendo, do fundo do meu coração, por esse clube e todos vocês, vou estar torcendo mesmo. Quando tiver jogo, independente do horário, estarei torcendo por vocês – afirmou, em vídeo divulgado pela “BotafogoTV”

Hameed and Mahmood played for England U-19s in the 2014 season while Parkinson, a legspinner, has played for the U-17 side and in August took 6 for 28 in a Lancashire 2nd XI Trophy match against Leicestershire.Hameed scored 112 in that same match but really made his mark during the U-19 series against South Africa when he piled up 389 runs in five matches – the most by any batsman in a youth bilateral one-day series, beating the 387 of Phil Hughes against Pakistan in 2007 – including consecutive scores of 97, 97 and 125.Mahmood joined the Lancashire academy two seasons ago and has since been part of the England development programme. West Indies batsman Chris Gayle said on Sunday that he was hopeful his team’s tour to South Africa would go ahead despite the pay dispute.West Indies cut short a tour to India last month, refusing to play the last of five ODIs, a Twenty20 match and three Tests over a cash row between players and officials.There have been fears in South Africa that West Indies will not come in December, or that officials would have to send a second-string side shorn of crowd-pullers like Gayle.”Hopefully the dispute can be resolved and we will play against South Africa,” Gayle said as he helped Lions win a South African domestic T20 first-round match in Johannesburg. “The current situation between players and officials in the West Indies is unfortunate, but these disputes do happen occasionally.”Talks are taking place to try and resolve the issue and I would love the South Africa tour to go ahead.”West Indies are scheduled to play three Tests, three T20s and five ODIs during December and January in the only tour South Africa host before the World Cup.Gayle starred with bat and ball as Lions defeated the Durban-based Dolphins by six wickets in the final game of a triple-header at the Wanderers.
