Roach collected 3 for 18 from his four overs and together with Man-of-the-Match Nathan Hauritz, who bowled tightly and took three terrific outfield catches, ensured the Heat would defend their 5 for 167 with relative ease.In the end the Heat won by 34 runs as the Scorchers’ chase petered out and they finished their 20 overs at 9 for 133, too much work having been left for the lower order. For the second consecutive year, the Scorchers suffered the disappointment of hosting the final, entering it as favourites, and emerging without the trophy, but by reaching this stage they at least qualified to take part in a second consecutive Champions League later in the year.Still, they would have felt at the halfway point of this game that they were in with a strong chance. On a good batting pitch, 168 was the kind of chase that would require a very solid batting performance, and was certainly gettable. But the absence from their top order of Herschelle Gibbs, who injured his hamstring in the semi-final against the Melbourne Stars, hurt the Scorchers more than the loss of captain James Hopes (hamstring) did the Heat.Marcus Stoinis, in his third match of the tournament, was asked to replace Gibbs at the top of the order and was undone by Roach’s pace and bounce, when his top edge was brilliantly caught at third man by Hauritz. An even better outfield take from Hauritz got rid of Shaun Marsh, who on 16 pulled Ben Cutting and was caught when Hauritz leapt and snared the ball above his head at deep backward square leg.The runs just weren’t flowing for the Scorchers, who had started slowly against the offspin of Hauritz, who bowled the first over of the innings. The Scorchers’ remaining hopes ended when Roach picked up Simon Katich for a duck and Voges for 49 in the 18th over, both caught in the deep by Chris Sabburg.As it turned out, the Heat had accumulated more than enough runs after choosing to bat. They had Joe Burns and Christian to thank for that, after the openers Luke Pomersbach and Peter Forrest made a steady but far from spectacular start. Jason Behrendorff got rid of both openers, Forrest for 17 off 16 balls and Pomersbach for 37 from 38, although Brad Hogg’s tight spin-bowling had been a major factor in building the pressure that brought the wickets at the other end.But Burns managed to lift the tempo and his innings of 43 from 27 balls was all the more frustrating for the Scorchers because he could have been out from the next delivery after Pomersbach fell. Burns pulled Behrendorff and the ball seemed destined to find Marsh at deep square leg, but the sun appeared to distract Marsh and he was unable even to get a hand on the ball, which then bounced away for four.Burns eventually skied a catch to long-on from the bowling of Michael Beer but Christian was able to keep the boundaries flowing until he was bowled by Coulter-Nile in the second-last over for 37 from 21 balls. The Heat had picked up 48 runs in their final five overs, the kind of finish the Scorchers required later in the match. But unlike the Heat, they ran out of batting firepower.

By the time Shahzaib was dismissed after smashing ten boundaries, the asking-rate had fallen to below seven runs an over. The Karachi middle order, led by Sheharyar Ghani and Asad Shafiq, brought up victory with an over to spare.Lahore’s score of 167 for 7 had been built with the help of contributions from Kashif Siddiq (48 off 35) and Nasir Jamshed (36 off 26). But their heavyweight middle order of Kamran and Umar Akmal and Abdul Razzaq could not capitalise on a strong position of 113 for 2 in the 12th over and Lahore eventually fell short of posting a stiffer target.The final between Sialkot and Karachi will be played tomorrow at 7 pm local time in Rawalpindi.

When close to 800 runs were scored between India and Australia 10 days before the start of the World Cup, this tournament was being billed as the biggest run-fest of them all. But since then, we have seen South Africa bowled out for 69, India suffer two collapses, the 275 mark breached just once, and even Australia collapse to 76 for 7.The action now moves to Visakhapatnam, the fourth venue of this World Cup, where the Indian team held preparatory camps in the lead up to the tournament, and where five women’s ODIs have been played before, the last in 2014, but none involving South Africa. They arrive here after contrasting results in their first two games, but they have the personnel in terms of batters, spinners and quicks to adapt to whatever the damp conditions in Visakhapatnam throw at them.India’s first two wins were far from their “perfect game,” as Jemimah Rodrigues put it on Wednesday, and with this fixture, they head into a 10-day period of big clashes against South Africa, Australia and England, which could well decide their fate in this home World Cup.     George Dobell16-Nov-2020England’s tour of Pakistan is set to be postponed until September or October, ESPNcricinfo understands, after plans for the tour to go ahead at the end of January were abandoned on the grounds of cost and availability.With England’s Test squad scheduled for series in Sri Lanka and India in January and a large number of their top limited-overs players scheduled to be involved in the BBL, there had been the prospect of England sending the equivalent of a C Team to Pakistan for what would have amounted to the first official tour of the country in 15 years.However, it is understood that both boards agreed that such a historic occasion warranted a full-strength England squad. It is also understood that some at the ECB had reservations about devaluing international caps by awarding them to players who might, in ordinary circumstances, be considered third- or fourth-choice.Although the trip might have lasted as little as 96 hours – the plan was to play two or three games in Karachi in that period – England were planning on arranging a training camp in the UAE and hiring a charter flight for the team. It is understood costs could have extended to somewhere around £800,000 for the trip.The lack of star players – on the England side, at least – might also have had a knock-on effect on the value of the broadcasting deal in Pakistan.It now seems likely both sides will use the postponed trip as preparation for the T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be played in India in October and November. While the exact dates are yet to be confirmed, it seems England will leave almost as soon as the domestic season finishes in late September and expect to play at least three T20Is in Pakistan with their full-strength squad.England have not toured Pakistan since Michael Vaughan’s team visited in the winter of 2005. The Sunrisers have announced left-arm fast bowler Prithvi Raj Yarra as replacement.Concerns grew over Kumar’s fitness and further participation in the IPL after he sat out the Sunrisers’ last match, on Sunday against the Mumbai Indians. Kumar had limped out of the field in the previous match against the Chennai Super Kings, having bowled just one delivery while into his fourth over.At the time, Kumar was seen holding his hip, but it is understood he has injured his thigh. It cannot be confirmed how serious the injury is. However, the Indian team management and selectors would be concerned, considering he would be in the reckoning for India’s upcoming tour of Australia – which is likely to be start in late November – although no official itinerary has been announced.Kumar is the third player – and second for the Sunrisers – to miss this year’s IPL due to injury.
